It’s sad because I post videos to YouTube and watch it a lot. It’s a glorious catalogue of human creativity. But also fully corrupted by the perverse fiat incentives. However it’s also a monopoly that is stronger than ever. Rumble is a joke and Vimeo gave up directly competing long ago. The only solution I’ve found is to post the same content to my website, self-hosted on Peertube, using a value for value model without ads and sponsorships. If anyone ever complains about the sponsors on my YouTube channel, I smugly direct them to a different system where they can opt out. They almost never do.
