Don’t use Google Authenticator to store 2FA codes or Google Browser to store passwords or passkeys. Keep your secrets off Google products because those are synced and accessible in the cloud anywhere in the world. In the unfortunate event that hackers compromise your Google account they will have access to everything they need to digitally become you. If Google bans your account your digital identity is pretty much gone with it too. Convenience is the enemy of security.

500-800 people (numbers are not clear yet but it was packed) were unfortunate enough to be present at one of Dominican Republic’s most popular night club in the capital city, the JetSet, when the ceiling collapsed under load. Personally I’ve lost multiple friends, acquaintances, and colleagues. It’s been a day or so and many are still missing. Scientists have been larding a lot lately in order to get grants. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was another “I am a scientist and I need to feed my family” situation.

Today on our way to Montréal, I lost control of the car for a few seconds. We started veering right first, I overcorrected so we swerved left into an oncoming vehicle, and then back into our lane, before I managed to gain control. The car up ahead was far enough that I believe either would have had a chance to stop before a potential head on collision. This probably lasted less than 10 seconds but felt like an eternity. The overnight snowfall had not been cleared yet on that road, which I believe caused the car to lose traction first on the right wheels (which is probably why we veered into the side of the road initially). I should have entered the road at a lower speed and kept it low, and kept the car closer to the center and highest part of the road. In the end it was all a big scare and a big humbling experience for me that I am grateful did not end in tragedy. 🙏😮‍💨
