Veraison is complete. Proof of work. The only task I truly dislike in the vineyard? Bird netting. Not because of birds—but because of the neighborhood squirrels. Frustrating, tedious, and absolutely necessary. They’re relentless. Hopefully they don’t find any kinks in the armor. Today was a long one. Topping, lateral thinning, and suckering are done. Cabernet Sauvignon is a beast—vigorous and unruly, especially with my tight vine spacing. Most vineyards space vines 6–8 feet apart. Mine? Just 2 feet. Precision is non-negotiable. Brix levels are sitting at 17–18, tracking toward a late October harvest. Everything’s on schedule. Veraison marks the turning point: the onset of ripening. Chlorophyll fades, anthocyanins rise—bringing color and sun protection. Sugars accumulate, glucose and fructose climb. I’m aiming for 24–25 Brix, roughly 1 Brix per week (give or take). Acidity shifts. Malic acid drops, tartaric acid takes the lead. Aromatics begin to bloom—fruity, floral, and varietal notes emerging with each passing day. Now begins the ripening phase. Blanch a good amount of picked Shiso leaves. Shake them in an ice bath. Once cooled take Shiso and strain out in a fine mess strainer pick out ice cubes. Let drain and squeeze out excess liquid until mostly dry. Rough chop. Add to blender and add just to cover with extra virgin olive oil or equivalent to you in blender. Blend soft then high until incorporated. Do let it heat up in blender. Take a cheese cloth and place in fine mess strainer, pour Shiso-oil blend into filter over a dripping container and wrap in plastic wrap. Add lace in fridge over night and collect in the morning. Never force any liquid/oil out of it. Then you will have Shiso oil.

I like the idea that people are already using nostr without having any idea that they are. I think eventually most Nostr users will be this way - no clue that they are part of a global protocol and network.

If you finally joined the ranks of node runners, please monitor your node and don’t allow it to be down almost daily. If it’s down almost daily, reevaluate your priorities and perhaps don’t run the node.

We need to improvise on Noster. Plebs are getting left behind. There are some good things about algorithms that don’t need to be monetized by advertising. I’m glad to be on Nostr exists, but there’s gotta be a way to include everyone who joins us. I have gained rapid success on Noster, but people don’t know how to use it. We as Nostriches have to find a way to promote niche, profiles and posts a.k.a. notes so that subjects and hashtags can be important besides fucking bitcoin. I love that we all can talk about bitcoin here but you’re not gonna be the revolution if you don’t include subjects that people care about besides fucking bitcoin!!! of course it doesn’t matter because I’m talking into a void and that is what Noster is right now.
