Steve Jobs said this back in 1996: For me, the most exciting thing in the software area is the Internet, and part of the reason for that is that no one owns it! It's a free-for-all, much more like the early days of the personal computer. The rate of innovation is really high. The free and open internet is long gone β€” only nostr’s still hanging on by a thread.

1. Because what you think are inalienable are very easily alienable. 2. No. There is no right to live, I survived because my parents and a community protected me. 3. Yes Those are moral rights and they would change from person to person you will not be able to impose "inallienable rights" for everyone because simply some may not agree with everything. These are similar to libertarian natural rights.
⬆
Karnage 10/10 15:29:10 πŸ’•
If there are no inalienable rights then how can they be taken away? πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« So you’re saying you have no right to life after you are born? Having your inalienable rights violated doesn’t mean they didn’t exist in the first place. We do not need laws to say all humans have a right to life. Whether that’s respected or not is irrelevant.
⬆
ABH3PO 10/10 15:24:18 πŸ’•
Or I might kill you for it if im too attached to it. They are moral rights assigned by me to the toaster, there are no illalienable rights. They can all be taken away by someone willing. There are just abilities(speech) and priveleges(laws that mandate freedom of speech).
⬆
Karnage 10/10 15:17:09 πŸ’•
I’m talking about inalienable rights. The rights not under any authority. Your toaster doesn’t have any moral rights no matter how long it served you. It’s property. I can break your toaster and I could be breaking some laws in the process and violating your right to it as property but it doesn’t have any rights of its own. I’ll have to pay you for it, sure.
⬆
ABH3PO 10/10 15:00:18 πŸ’•
You can treat rights either one of two ways, moral or legal. Which one do you imply here? Legal is extremely stupid and we can discuss that if you want and that is what most people imply when they mean rights, but you're never going to get a good answer since even current human rights come with convoluted exceptions. Moral rights are personal. They depend on person to person, you treat your loved ones differently than you treat a stranger. You might be willing to kill a stranger to protect your loved ones(legal rights down the drain). By this definition moral rights will also be different from toaster to toaster, I might not care for a random robot, but immensely for the one that has served me all my life.
⬆
Karnage 10/10 14:53:46 πŸ’•
Why is the concept of rights stupid? I think it’s one of the most important concepts that exists.

ABH3PO 8/24 13:27:12 πŸ’•
Yes that's marketing, which is totally fine, we can definitely have subjective opinions, but I think the distinction is necessary since users being marketed to are not customers yet, the expectations for customers and users are and should be different.
⬆
The Fishcake (nostr.build) 8/24 13:24:43 πŸ’•
You don’t offer the same identical services, you allow casual users to test run things and see if they want to pay into a higher tier and if it helps them solve their problems
⬆
ABH3PO 8/24 13:23:11 πŸ’•
Then that's not fair to the customers, paying customers get exactly what they pay for, users have no clue what value you are extracting from their usage.

Any customer is a customer, it’s up to you and your value proposition to make them a paying customer

I β€œlove” seeing how services on Nostr compete in a race to the bottom. Keep going, it’s the best way to kill the ecosystem and destroy momentum. Instead, focus on your niche and your customer needs, and stop looking at your β€œcompetition” because there is none. You build what your customers need, you solve their problem, you get their loyalty. No need to compare, there is nothing similar about anything, all are unicorns and unique in their own way.
ABH3PO 8/21 17:22:45 πŸ’•
Yes but it could be spammed, it could be better if we add web of trust elements like someone vouching for an app, and then we could filter them by a users web of trust

Is there a way to make Nostr apps auto discoverable? Specifically web apps? Maybe a kind dedicated to top level Nostr client info that’s broadcasted periodically? And then any client that fetches that kind can see all the Nostr web apps without searching for them on web and various lists? Is this doable? Tired of wondering if some app exists I don’t know about.
