What is this sudden fascination with connecting Signal with Bitcoin? Is it too difficult to send a QR code? Why would you try to integrate in-app payments if not to create a scam/ attck vector? Is everyone in popular bitcoin circles a first order thinker?

The datacarrier boolean was one of the things the fight was over. Not to mention the datacarriersize int is bugged.
Not everyone is a screeching howler monkey of emotion. Some people have technical objections as well.
Not that I would know, but it sounds like X is full of the former.

Damn, been seeing a lot of Rizful action on my feed, thanks for the heads up.

Rizful offered me 250k sats to promote their service. I declined.
Just wanted people to know that some people will talk about rizful without disclosing this payment. Not cool.

The only useful function follows serve is web of trust applications. It would be better if it were filtered by people you also follow when you look at someone's follow list.

I would rather just hide this stat entirely and not even fiddle around with renaming. Speaking for myself of course.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand Bitchat's USP with Geohash comms? I mean, it's a chat room served through Nostr relays right?
The bluetooth and mesh applications I totally get, (even if the mesh doesn't really work like a mesh) but why the geolocational chat?
Also, nostr relays can log IPs so even if ephemeral, the accounts link an IP to an exact geolocation. So, like, that's really bad.
Anyway, if someone could just lemme know, that'd be great.

He be careful how many numbers of geohash you expose, that could give a very close approximation to your current location.

I did. The act in effect does nothing to those outside of the UK beside, if found, block the content throigh the service portal. As I said before if the UK citizen just routes differently there's literally nothing the UK government can do to stop your content or you for that matter.

Yes, I read theat. Why is your freedom at stake here? Are the bobbies near you? I don't live in the UK but I serve content to anyone without fear or restriction. It's a broadcast not a direct comms channel.

To the people who say βjust donβt complyβ; I am not losing my freedom in exchange for your freedom. You donβt like your countryβs laws, make your government change them.
JackTheMimic

Why comply? Just route differently no? VPN, TOR, I2P, why are you moderating on behalf of a government? Just, don't pay the fines and then what?

So, due to the recent enactment of the UKβs Online Safety act, we maybe forced to not serve any content to the citizens of UK (accessing from UK) if our AI determines that the content is unsafe or unscannable. It may also impact AU in the near future if people of AU will allow their government to continue on the current course. Donβt blame the messenger, the fines are ridiculous and impossible to fight. Alternative is similarly ridiculous, scanning your face by some third party to verify your age.

They did try that. They shifted imports to Vietnam and Trump added another 10% on Vietnam. I think this 34% is actually a frustrated tantrum over them being caught trying to circumvent the tariff plan.

Youβre not wrong. But they are still a significant source of imports. I suspect the country of origin will just shift elsewhere. Theyβll ship it next door some place and repackage. A lot of part suppliers depend on China though.

I really don't understand this threat. If I sell a shitty $3 coffee and the premium coffee is $5 my ONLY selling point is cheap price. China's only selling point is their goods being cheap. It CERTAINLY isn't quality.

This isn't an anti-videogames thing. It's an ambition versus comfort thing. Your reflexive response is asserting something not said.

Why? Why not just whitelist people you like on a private relay and make public relays all paid? How does that not decentralize and strengthen?
