Continuing the previous note, I wonder how many of us are aware of the Metamodern/Post-postmodern/Integral/etc. discourse here?
I find it interesting to see how some of the new big picture understanding models (aka meta-theories aka many other things), based on Ken Wilber's AQAL, are being born right now. That's the right epoch for that IMO.
Is there any particular idea in metamodernism on which all metamodernists can already agree today, what do you think?
What about popular Wilber's personality criticism: is it accurate?

Unconventional Housing.
Welcome to the unique architecture of the Dutch. If you look closely, the water level in this neighborhood is higher than the parking area on the other side of the homes.

-THE BITCOIN BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-
Mount Everest is the world's tallest mountain measured from sea level, at 8,848.86 meters. But the real giant is Mauna Kea in Hawaii.
From its base on the ocean floor to its summit, it measures 10,210 meters, surpassing Mount Everest by about 1,400 meters. Only a portion of Mauna Kea rises above the water, reaching 4,207 meters above sea level.
Mount Everest is still the tallest mountain on Earth, but Mauna Kea is the real giant when you consider its total height: a giant hidden in the Pacific Ocean.

— If you do not actively choose a better way, then society, culture, and the general inertia of life will push you into a worse way. The default is distraction, not improvement.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲?
Stoicism, an ancient philosophy, offers timeless insights for living a life of purpose, resilience, and inner peace. When life feels overwhelming or uncertain, the words of Stoic thinkers like Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus can serve as a beacon of light, guiding us toward clarity and strength. Here, I’ll share 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐜 𝐪𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 that have profoundly inspired my journey—and they’ll spark something meaningful in yours, too.
1. “𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝—𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡.” – 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬
This quote reminds me of the countless times I’ve tried to control what’s beyond my reach—only to feel frustrated and powerless. But the moment I shifted my focus inward, I discovered an empowering truth: my thoughts, reactions, and mindset are entirely within my control.
Whenever you feel swept up by life’s chaos, pause and ask yourself, what can I control right now? By redirecting your energy toward what’s within your sphere of influence, you regain agency over your life and emotions.
2. “𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.” – 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐬
There’s wisdom in realizing that events themselves are neutral—it’s our interpretation that gives them meaning. A missed opportunity, a harsh comment, or an unexpected setback doesn’t have to define your day (or your life).
I remember facing a tough professional rejection and initially spiraling into self-doubt. But when I embraced Epictetus’ advice, I reframed it as a learning opportunity. What could’ve been an obstacle became a steppingstone.
3. “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬.” – 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬
Imagine your mind as a garden. Each thought is a seed—are you planting weeds or flowers? This quote challenges us to cultivate thoughts that nourish our well-being.
When I catch myself in negative self-talk, I reflect on this wisdom. It’s not about denying difficult emotions but ensuring that my inner dialogue aligns with the person I aspire to be.
4. “𝐇𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞.” – 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐚
This quote shook me to my core the first time I read it. How often do we let fear—fear of failure, rejection, or even death—hold us back from truly living?
I recall hesitating to pursue a passion project, haunted by thoughts of “What if it doesn’t work?” Seneca’s words reminded me that the true risk lies in not trying at all. Life is fleeting, and every moment spent paralyzed by fear is a moment lost.
5. “𝐈𝐟 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬, 𝐧𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.” – 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐚
Purpose gives direction, and direction brings focus. This metaphor of the ship and the port has been a cornerstone in aligning my goals and priorities.
When I felt stuck in a career crossroads, Seneca’s wisdom encouraged me to articulate my "port"—a vision for my future. With clarity, even challenges became opportunities to chart my course.
6. “𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬.” – 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐬
In a world that often equates success with material accumulation, this quote is a powerful reminder to redefine wealth. It’s not about chasing endless desires but finding contentment in simplicity.
Adopting this mindset helped me break free from the “more is better” trap. Instead, I started appreciating the richness of experiences, relationships, and inner peace.
7. “𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞. 𝐁𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞.” – 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬
This quote resonates deeply with me as a call to action. It’s easy to get caught up in philosophical debates or endless self-reflection, but Marcus Aurelius urges us to embody our values.
For me, this meant shifting from overthinking to living intentionally showing kindness, practicing patience, and striving for integrity in everyday life.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞
Each of these quotes holds a mirror to our lives, inviting us to pause, reflect, and grow. Whether you’re facing challenges or simply seeking a deeper connection to yourself, Stoicism offers a roadmap to resilience and meaning.
Let these quotes guide you but remember—knowledge alone isn’t enough. As the Stoics teach us, wisdom comes through practice. So, how will you apply these lessons today?
