I still can't believe that not too long ago (4 years or so) Google had all my data. Completely immersed in that ecosystem. And it took a very long time and a lot of effort to extract myself from it. More time and effort than most people will put in, if they even realize that it might be worth it.

Years later everyone is realizing that taproot is just vaporware. Maybe it has some use in lightning, but nothing that couldn't be handled without a base layer protocol change. Bitcoin node software (core, knots, etc.) is the most vulnerable part of Bitcoin because no one can resist trying to improve it, since it is free to do so. While at the same time every protocol-level "improvement" actually degrades the network at this point. "Ah but if it just did this one other thing, then it would be complete!"—ad infinitum. The only thing to do is to never run code pushed by people who update core with that mindset. From the lens of power projection theory: refuse to subscribe to abstract power, and it ceases to exist. Maybe if no one can force you, the noderunner, to run "improved" code, no one can use you as a vector to degrade the network.

I was pretty hard to deal with too, probably, but I was too busy with school most of the time to care. School ruined me.
