For something like a Nostr app, what is the reason to NOT to use React Native? Probably the most performance -intensive thing is "the scroll" -- preloading and rendering lots of content. But can't .... realistically.... React Native do this pretty well at this point? React Native is now 10 years old. This is not a rhetorical question. I'm wondering about this myself. Maybe someone can answer or has an opinion.

Why not? You just provide an array of integers in the configuration file to whitelist or blacklist certain event kinds. From looking at the code of various projects, like Primal and others, it seems like a very common thing that developers will come up with their own nonexistent event, integer kinds, and use them for various things.

GN! 🫂💤💤💤 I’ve spent all of my free time in the past 3 weeks trying to design and prototype a better approach to video transcoding, and serving. I can already see the light in the end of a tunnel, but production ready implementation will take some time and testing. I truly hope to have at least some level of availability to a few beta testers within a month or sooner! Sorry for not being as active on the Nostr, gotta pick dev work to make progress here.

We have to keep using GIF because of Apple’s policy in Safari. Safari will auto play gifs, but is much more picky about autoplaying mp4. The majority of internet users base their entire attention and decisions on video, and if you don’t autolay video for them, they will quickly switch back to instagram or TikTok. This is the cold reality.
