Finally upgraded to iOS 26 on my main iPhone. It’s alright, it’s growing on me.

Troubleshooting broken clock is some of the most painful experiences for both the user and the service provider. It’s not usually obvious but it interferes in many places. Y2K was my first experience with that, and I still run into occasional issues due to time synchronization, be it a client or between servers due to bugs and broken HW 😂😅😭

Yes, I would suggest keeping your current node for zaps with one channel from Eclair. I am planning to write a secure wallet for eclair and secure middle API to allow for it

Decided to temporarily switch back to Wallet of Satoshi. Not sure if my Alby Hub node has insufficient connectivity or I am doing something wrong, but want to experiment with how well or bad zaps will go through back and forth. LN really needs some more love to be usable by general population. 🫡

Wanted to challenge myself this year and write more, and had time to think about friendships in general. Here are some of my thoughts. On the topic of friendship and making friends: If you are someone who struggles to keep friendships going or making friends, regardless of your age category, this note may help you. First, there is nothing wrong with having few good real friends and not being part of a large group. There could be a ton of reasons why you struggle with maintaining friendships or creating new ones, e.g., constantly moving from place to place, not having enough free time to maintain relationships, or not finding common interests and diverse enough backgrounds to stay engaged. In my experience, all friendships start with trust. You need to either be the one making the first step (which comes with risks), or, ideally, both of you extend a "token of trust" to each other. Once you have this "bridge of trust" in place, you can work on it together to build it further. As long as you are able to maintain the trust between each other and are able to "test" the trust and confirm it from time to time, you should be good. Friends should be people with whom you can share bad and good news, and be able to reciprocate without reservations. If you find yourself drained and at a low energy state, your friendship should be able to help you recharge. If you are not able to recharge, then perhaps the friendship is not mutually beneficial and being reciprocated. One more aspect of a good friendship is selflessness. When you "give," you should never expect anything in return, and your expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Ideally, this will work well when your friendship is in good health and both of you are of the same mind. Lastly, to find new friends, you should be able to put yourself out there and step out of your comfort zone. It's OK if it is uncomfortable at times or feels awkward or embarrassing. A quick progress update on my new node! I’ve now got PostgreSQL installed with replication working between the two NUCs. Eclair is also installed with a basic configuration running in a Docker container. It starts up without errors using the Postgres backend. So far all is looking good. Next I need to get my networking sorted out. There is a slight issue with my plan for failover between the two Internet connections where it won’t failover as quickly as I would like in some situations so I need to reconsider what to do. Once that is sorted out I’ll transfer some Bitcoin and open channels. There is definitely a much bigger learning curve building a node this way than simply using Umbrel or StartOS but it gives a lot more flexibility and understanding exactly how everything is put together is useful. Things are slowing down at work in the lead up to Christmas so I’ve got some more time to work on building my new Bitcoin/Lightning node. nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w convinced me to try Eclair so this is what I am planning to do. I have 2 NUCs, each with a 2TB NVMe drive. I upgraded one to 64GB RAM and the other to 32GB last night. Eclair will be using Postgres as a backend with replication. NUC 1: - PostgreSQL - Bitcoin Core - Eclair (docker) NUC 2: - PostgreSQL - Bitcoin Core I may also run Alby Hub in docker on NUC 2 mainly to separate zaps off of my main node. Both NUCs are on my APC extended run UPS for power backup. Internet connectivity is redundant via two Internet services using different access technologies (NBN FTTH & fixed wireless) with a separate router for each one. So far Bitcoin Core is installed on each and has finished syncing.

I’ve still got some on chain funds on the old node so that will at least give me a start on the new one but then I’ll have to close channels on the old one to recover funds before opening more on the new one. And I’ll just have to be more selective as to what I open.

You can actually just open a channel from your node to it (they use LDK) and it will work as well 🫡🔥
